WHAT WE OFFER
Auto insurance. Simplified
As you may have heard ICBC has introduced an online option to renew your auto insurance. What does this mean for you? With an ICBC online renewal, you may be eligible to renew your policy online directly through ICBC’s website. Note that this doesn’t apply to all policies.
Broadly speaking, an ICBC policy is eligible for online renewal directly through ICBC if it’s a personal policy, due for renewal in 44 days or less, there’s only one vehicle owner who doesn’t plan on making changes to their coverage, and the vehicle being insured isn’t new.
Let us do the legwork for you – it’ll save you time and effort. When you renew with us, we’ll take care of all the paperwork for you, ensure you have the best coverage and send you the policy documents and reminder decal so you’ll never miss a renewal.
If you need to make changes to your policy, including adding or removing ICBC Products or if you have private insurance options such as replacement cost, you will not be eligible to renew yourself. Simply contact us and we can take care of it for you.

FAQs
Eligible ICBC customers with policies expiring on or after May 1, 2022, will have the option to renew their policy online. Broadly speaking, an ICBC policy is eligible for online renewal if it’s a personal policy, due for renewal in 44 days or less (for policies expiring on or after May 1, 2022), there’s only one vehicle owner who doesn’t plan on making changes to their coverage, and the vehicle being insured isn’t new.
You cannot renew your policy online if:
- It’s for a jointly owned vehicle
- It’s for a leased vehicle
- It’s for a company-owned vehicle
- It’s for a motorcycle
- It’s for a collector vehicle
- It’s a commercial policy
- It’s expired
- You want to add, remove or change your ICBC optional coverages during the renewal
- You have outstanding debt owed to ICBC
If you have questions or want to renew a policy that’s ineligible for online renewal, contact us to help you out.
- STEP 1: Log in securely with your BC Services Card app. If you haven’t already signed up, you will be required to do so.
- STEP 2: Confirm your coverage and policy details (please note you cannot make any changes to your coverages).
- STEP 3: Print your insurance documents. You’ll need to keep a printed copy in your vehicle at all times.
- STEP 4: After you’ve paid, your selected broker will review the renewal and contact you if needed.
You can renew your policy as early as 44 days before its expiry date, if your policy is expiring on or after May 1, 2022. If you choose to renew online, we recommend starting it well before its expiry date.
If you don’t renew your policy before its expiry date, you will not have coverage. There is no grace period for late renewals.
The system is offline 12 a.m.–5 a.m. for daily system maintenance and processing. Customers are not able to log in or complete a renewal during this time period.
- To ensure you are eligible to renew your ICBC policy online, you will need to verify your identity using the BC Services Card App. To learn how to install and use the app, visit BC Services Card App – Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca)
- Alternate verification sources will become available in the coming months.
May 1 will also mark the last day B.C. drivers will be required to display a licence plate validation decal. But not to worry… with our email and text reminders, you will never miss a renewal.
We are more than happy to continue renewing your ICBC insurance for you- via online form, phone or in person.
Alternatively, when you renew using the ICBC Online system, you will be prompted to choose your “Broker of Choice”. The system will show you up to the last three 3 broker locations that you have worked with, and you may select from this list. Simply select your local Schill Insurance office, and one of our brokers will reach out to you to review your transaction after you complete it.
If you renew directly with us, we will mail you the documents, along with a reminder decal for your windshield. If you renew directly through ICBC, your documents will be emailed to you and you will be able to print them off on your home printer. If you do not have a printer, you can ask your Schill broker to print the documents off for you. You can also ask that ICBC mail you a copy of your documents. You are required to have a copy of the printed documents in your vehicle at all times.
Our clients come first and we want to ensure renewing your ICBC insurance is a breeze. We can complete a renewal faster than you can say Schill Insurance has the fastest renewals around… well, maybe more like 5 minutes 😉
Prior to all renewals, we reach out via email, text and phone call. We also provide complimentary window decals so you’ll never miss an expiry date. Our priority is to ensure our clients are well-informed and properly covered. Insurance isn’t always exciting or glamourous, but it’s what we love to do. We’re here for you.
If you prefer a face-to-face renewal, we’ve got you. With locations in White Rock, South Surrey, Ocean Park, Cloverdale, Delta, Richmond, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge and Port Alberni, there is bound to be a Schill Insurance near you.
ICBC’s optional Income Top-Up policy extends income replacement coverage beyond the $109,000 limit available under Enhanced Accident Benefits (EAB) if you’re injured in a crash and unable to work.
ICBC’s optional Income Top-Up policy is only sold to individual customers and isn’t tied to vehicle coverage. It can be purchased at any time in tiers of $10,000, up to a maximum of $100,000 above the income replacement limit. If you are a B.C. resident, you don’t need to have an insured vehicle to purchase this product. If you aren’t a B.C. resident, you need to have an active ICBC Owner’s Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Licence in order to purchase the Income Top-Up policy.
New distance-based discounts
Don’t drive often? You may be eligible for a new discount next year. Bring a photo of your current odometer reading when you buy or renew your insurance.
The discount is based on the mileage driven over the last 12 months. This is determined by an odometer reading from the previous policy term, and another at the policy’s renewal a year later.
Only annual policies are eligible for the discount (not short-term policies).
There are certain rate classes that are not eligible, such as motorcycles and collector vehicles because their rate classes already reflect low kilometres travelled as most of these vehicles are not used year-round. This discount is meant for those who are in rate classes where the majority of the vehicles are driven longer distances.
Talk to your Schill broker if you have questions about your vehicle’s eligibility.
