Commercial Lines Account Manager

Schill insurance Brokers is currently looking for a full-time Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our team in our Surrey (Guildford) office! The successful candidate will service a book of business in a variety of industries with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, retention, and new business growth.

About the Opportunity:
- Provide friendly and professional service to customers and members of the team
- Prepare submissions, client proposals, binders, invoices, and other documentation
- Manage renewals in a timely and pro-active manner
- Policy wording reviews, research of information for our clients to ensure needs are addressed

The successful candidate will underwrite risks and prepare quotations for our in-house program by reviewing relevant information to determine the acceptability and contribute to a profitable portfolio.

About the Opportunity:
The Commercial Lines Underwriter is responsible for analyzing the acceptability of business according to the company guidelines and making effective underwriting decisions to achieve profitable premium growth and retention goals. The Underwriter position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Appropriately underwrite risks ensuring they fit within our broad in-house appetite and multiple programs in order to promote a profitable portfolio
- Determine eligibility for new business submissions and policy renewals based on guidelines and retention goals of the company
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to provide value added expertise and exceptional service to our Account Managers and Clients
- Provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external parties
- Communicate decisions and respond to requests in a prompt and professional manner
- Work effectively towards the goals of the team
- Understanding of various Property & Casualty wordings and how they apply to meet our clients needs
- Maintain accurate records of decisions made and maintain completeness of policy data
- Acquire, maintain, and upgrade technical skills and personal knowledge of insurance products
- Other duties, assignments and or special projects may be assigned by the Underwriting Manager
About You:
- 7+ Years Commercial Underwriting experience (Prior MGA experience an asset)
- Deep working knowledge of general Commercial Lines coverages and products; past experience with Lloyds an asset
- A broad understanding of underwriting and pricing disciplines; solution oriented with ability to balance risk acceptance and profitability
- Self-motivated with strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills
- Keen attention to detail and an ability to prioritize duties effectively and proactively
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with changing underwriting focuses
- Team player with a strong work ethic; ability to have fun without sacrificing productivity
- Computer proficient with the ability to navigate through multiple systems including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Policy Works and EPIC an asset
- Level 2 BC General Insurance license preferred

- High School graduate
- Insurance Broker level 1 license (at least 6 months experience strongly preferred)

About the Job:
- Our Auto Agents are an integral part of our team and will be the first point of contact for customers
- Engage with clients to determine their needs and provide expert advice to ensure the best coverage for them
- Maintain and manage a book of business and strong client relationships through proactive contact via phone, letter and email
- Develop new business opportunities by securing expiry dates and cross selling
- Manage and process renewals on a timely basis and maintain high levels of client retention
- Support clients in the claims process
